Kerry Lawrence, mother of two teens, assistant volleyball coach, and secretary, still finds time to be involved in her kid’s lives by helping out with their youth group. Recently Kerry made the time to attend the Battle Cry Leadership Summit in her area – Cleveland, OH.
“It’s 5:15, the soup is on the stove, and after dinner I’m off to another youth leader’s meeting. I’m a mom of two teens, and think ministering to them, and with them, is one of the coolest ways to spend my time. Tonight we will be making plans for ATF, always a highlight of our year.
A week ago, I accompanied our new youth pastor to his first exposure of a BattleCry Event, as we were a part of the Leader’s Event in Cleveland. In 3 hours of intense exposure to the world our teens are living in, Ron Luce and Blaine Bartel set our hearts on fire once more to the urgent need to bring Christ to a generation of young people on the precipice of a Christ-less life and eternity. It truly was a ‘Wake-up Call’ as the leader’s summit was billed.
As hard as it is to believe the 4% statistic (which is the percentage of America that will be Bible believing if we continue at the current rate of evangelism), I realize that even a more easily believable statistic (15%?, 20%?,) would still be utterly horrific. The exact number isn’t nearly as important as the realization that there is no hope for these young people, apart from the life-transforming message and power of the gospel.
BattleCry is equipping all who have a heart desire to rescue our youth RIGHT NOW, before it’s too late. The BattleCry.com home page absolutely described what a leader/pastor can expect from the 3 hour leadership summit. We can’t keep our heads in the sand any longer, and I believe God has something for every believer to do to know that they are a part of the Battle Plan.
Tonight I will ask the question of our other leaders, what can WE DO, what can I DO, what’s going to stop us, and how can we prevent that?”
This generation is in desperate need of adults like Kerry that will come along side of them, care about them, and engage in their lives. If we’re going to turn this generation around, it is vital that the leaders of today’s church share a common vision. The BattleCry Leadership Summit is an event designed to unite leaders under the urgent purpose of seeing a generation rescued for Christ. We as leaders need a strong vision in our hears in order to bring this generation back to where its focus should be: back to Jesus.
Where there is no revelation or prophetic vision, the people cast off restraint.
-Proverbs 29:18
“In these few words is a powerful truth. Without a vision or dream, people have no restraint, no way to harness their energy for productive use. Vision is the bridle that couples energy with purpose, and generates the power of horses pulling a huge stagecoach! Today, we have a generation without a vision-they use their energy for this and that, with no direction or restraint. The end result? We have a lot of kids in church who are fooling around, getting into trouble, and living compromised Christian lives because there is nothing harnessing their energy to use for God.
Whether or not to have big dreams isn’t an option. It is mandatory! A sports coach recognizes this and sets a vision for his team: ‘This is where we are going to go; this is what we can become!’ His vision inspires them to run and sweat and work hard. It focuses their passion and energy.
Sadly, our youth groups suffer because we don’t dare to dream. We wonder why our students haven’t gotten fired up, done something for God, risen up to take their school back-much less take America back. Yet, we are the ones who must paint the picture for them. We have to dream it first and show them where they fit into our vision. Don’t expect them to figure it out themselves. We must compel them with our vision to go for it!” - Revolution YM, by Ron Luce pg. 78
This BattleCry Leadership Summit is occurring in 44 different cities around America. It invites anyone: pastors, youth leaders, aspiring youth workers, or concerned parents to get a clear vision and unite to win back the leaders of tomorrow. In a power-packed three hour period, leaders are given a clear presentation of the perils this generation is facing as well as resources and tools to help rescue them. They are exposed to the truth about the harshness of the world today and the difficult decisions that teens face, so they will be prepared to relate to the youth they are trying to rescue. They will walk away equipped with a battle plan to take back to their church for immediate implementation.
Many people do not know the horrific reality of what is happening to this generation. Perhaps we see our youth groups and assume that other youth groups are growing, reaching out, and discipling too. Sadly, in many cases this is not true. More and more you’ll find that the average “youth group” is just that - a group. A group of the same kids coming back every week to their fun night at church. This cannot continue to be our standard. If you are an adult or a leader and you are willing to join the fight for this generation, find the nearest BattleCry Leadership Summit and discover what you can do. We all must dream big. We all must unite. We all must engage immediately.
